Description
Bovine Complement Factor B is encoded by the CFB gene in cattle. CFB is a component of the alternative pathway of complement activation. It circulates in the blood as a single-chain polypeptide. Upon activation of the alternative pathway, it is cleaved by complement factor D, yielding the noncatalytic chain Ba and the catalytic subunit Bb. Bb fragment of bovine complement factor B activates bovine monocytes and neutrophils, and stimulates bovine monocytes in their microbicidal activity
