Description
C-X-C chemokine receptor type 1, also known as Interleukin 8 receptor alpha, is the receptor for interleukin-8, a potent chemotactic factor for neutrophils. When IL-8 binds to this receptor, it activates neutrophils. This activation is mediated through a G-protein that stimulates a phosphatidylinositol-calcium second messenger system. In rabbits, this receptor is encoded by the CXCR1 gene. It was shown that IL8RA is activated in a rabbit skin infection model and participates in the immune response at the site of infection by promoting recruitment and chemotaxis of inflammatory cells
