Description

Indoleamine 2,3-dioxygenase 2 (IDO2) catalyzes the initial and rate-limiting step in the kynurenine pathway of tryptophan catabolism, playing a role in immune regulation. In mice, IDO2's functions are primarily associated with immune regulation, inflammatory response, and autoimmune diseases. It influences immune cell function through both enzymatic and non-enzymatic mechanisms, contributing to pro-inflammatory effects under certain pathological conditions. IDO2 is crucial for the generation of T regulatory cells (Treg), a process dependent on the genetic function of IDO1. In IDO1-deficient mice, IDO2 function is impaired due to mismatched splicing of its expression
