Description
In mice, Ribosomal Protein S6 Kinase Alpha 3 is encoded by the Rps6ka3 gene. It is a serine/threonine-protein kinase that functions downstream of ERK signaling (MAPK1/ERK2 and MAPK3/ERK1). This kinase facilitates the activation of transcription factors CREB1, ETV1/ER81, and NR4A1/NUR77 in response to mitogenic and stress stimuli. It also regulates translation by phosphorylating RPS6 and EIF4B, and contributes to cellular processes such as proliferation, survival, and differentiation. It does so by modulating mTOR signaling and suppressing the pro-apoptotic functions of BAD and DAPK1
