Netrin receptor DCC, also known as DCC, or colorectal cancer suppressor is a protein which in humans is encoded by the DCC gene. Predicted to enable identical protein binding activity; netrin receptor activity; and transcription coactivator activity. Involved in postsynaptic modulation of chemical synaptic transmission. Acts upstream of or within generation of neurons. Located in axon. Is integral component of postsynaptic density membrane. Is active in Schaffer collateral - CA1 synapse. Is expressed in several structures, including alimentary system; central nervous system; genitourinary system; lung; and retina. Human ortholog(s) of this gene implicated in colorectal cancer; congenital mirror movement disorder; esophageal cancer; and esophagus squamous cell carcinoma.
