Description
This assay employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate CD1A in samples. An antibody specific for CD1A has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and any CD1A present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for CD1A is added to the wells. After washing, Streptavidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of CD1A bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.
Overview: CD1d is a member of the CD1 (cluster of differentiation 1) family of glycoproteins expressed on the surface of various human antigen-presenting cells. They are related to the class I MHC molecules, and are involved in the presentation of lipid antigens to T cells. It is the only member of the group 2 CD1 molecules. The CD1 family members are thought to differ in their cellular localization and specificity for particular lipid ligands.
