Sulfamerazine is a Sulfonamides drug used as a feed additive for calves and pigs. It can also treat intestinal infections, toxoplasmosis, and coccidiosis in livestock and aquatic animals. Sulfamerazine, like other sulfonamides drugs, can cause liver damage. Sulfamerazine remaining in edible animals have certain health effects on the human body. Relevant regulations in Canada and the U.S. FDA set the maximum residue limit (MRL) of Sulfamerazine in animal derived food such as muscle and liver to 100ppb
