Description

Description: This assay employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate OR4D9 in samples. An antibody specific for OR4D9 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and any OR4D9 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for OR4D9 is added to the wells. After washing, Streptavidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of OR4D9 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.
Overview: OR4D9 belongs to the G-protein coupled receptor 1 family. Olfactory receptors interact with odorant molecules in the nose, to initiate a neuronal response that triggers the perception of a smell. The olfactory receptor proteins are members of a large family of G-protein-coupled receptors (GPCR) arising from single coding-exon genes. Olfactory receptors share a 7-transmembrane domain structure with many neurotransmitter and hormone receptors and are responsible for the recognition and G protein-mediated transduction of odorant signals. The olfactory receptor gene family is the largest in the genome. The nomenclature assigned to the olfactory receptor genes and proteins for this organism is independent of other organisms. The genomic coordinates used for the transcript record were based on alignments
