Description
Product Characteristics: The AssayMax™ Human Myeloperoxidase ELISA (Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay) kit is designed for detection of myeloperoxidase in human plasma, serum, urine, saliva, milk, CSF, and cell culture samples. This assay employs a quantitative sandwich enzyme immunoassay technique that measures myeloperoxidase in less than 4 hours. A polyclonal antibody specific for myeloperoxidase has been pre-coated onto a 96-well microplate with removable strips. Myeloperoxidase in standards and samples is sandwiched by the immobilized antibody and biotinylated polyclonal antibody specific for myeloperoxidase, which is recognized by a streptavidin-peroxidase conjugate. All unbound material is washed away and a peroxidase enzyme substrate is added. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.
Target Information: Myeloperoxidase (MPO) is a heme protein synthesized during myeloid differentiation that constitutes the major component of neutrophil azurophilic granules. Produced as a single chain precursor, myeloperoxidase is subsequently cleaved into a light and heavy chain. The mature myeloperoxidase is a tetramer composed of 2 light chains and 2 heavy chains. This enzyme produces hypohalous acids central to the microbicidal activity of netrophils. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
