HT-29 is an adherent epithelial cell line isolated from a primary tumor obtained from a patient with colorectal adenocarcinoma. These cells express characteristics of mature intestinal cells and form a tight monolayer with an apical brush border exhibiting a similarity to enterocytes, making this line useful in gastrointestinal (GI) research. HT-29 is sensitive to chemotherapeutic drugs and is used extensively in cancer and drug research
