Yves-Alain Barde FRS is an Emeritus Professor of Neurobiology at Cardiff University. He is the author of hundreds of scientific literatures, which includes the first report of Brain Derived Neurotrophic Factor (BDNF) published in 1982. He has been focusing mostly on the biochemistry and function of BDNF in synaptic plasticity and neuroprotection in humans. He was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society (FRS) in 2017.
