Description
An alkaloid with diverse biological activities; inhibits arachidonic acid-, collagen-, or ADP-induced aggregation of isolated rabbit platelets (IC50s = 0.72, 0.74, and 0.67 mmol/L); decreases the number of sleep-wake cycles and increases total sleep time and REM sleep in rats at 0.25 mg/kg; reduces infarct volume and reverses sensory-motor and spatial memory defects in a mouse model of MCAO-induced stroke at 40 mg/kg; reduces hippocampal production of ROS and MDA levels and decreases escape latency in the Morris water maze test in a mouse model of Aβ42-induced Alzheimer’s disease
