A niacin receptor agonist; binds to HCA2 (IC50 = 1.12 µM); induces ERK1/2 phosphorylation in CHO-K1 cells expressing HCA2 or HCA3 from 0.01-10 µM; reduces serum triglyceride and LDL levels and increases the ratio of HDL to total cholesterol in hyperlipidemic rats at 1 mg/kg; reduces serum triglyceride levels in a rat model of STZ-induced diabetes
