R 568 is positive allosteric modulator and allosteric agonist of the human calcium-sensing receptor (hCaSR), increasing the sensitivity to activation by extracellular Ca2+. It dose-dependently decreases circulating levels of PTH in both normal individuals and patients with primary hyperparathyroidism in clinical trials.
