BAY-598 R-isomer is the R-isomer of BAY589 which is a potent, peptide-competitive chemical probe for SET and MYND domain-containing protein 2 (SMYD2), IC50 values of 27 nM and 58 nM for biochemical and cellular activity, respectively. BAY 598 exhibits 100-fold selectivity for SMYD2 over other histone methyltransferases and non-epigenetic enzymes
