BMS711939 is a selective and potent peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor α(PPARα) agonist with EC50 value of 4 nM for human PPARα. It is >1000-fold selectivity vs human PPARγ with EC50 value of 4.5 µM and PPARδ with EC50 value of > 100 µM in PPAR-GAL4 transactivation assays. It shows excellent in vivo efficacy and safety profiles in preclinical studies. It was chosen for further preclinical evaluation
