Description
SET and MYND domain-containing protein 1 (Smyd1) is a member of the Smyd family of histone methyltransferases that possesses H3K4 methyltransferase activity. It has also been shown to act as a transcriptional repressor. Studies suggest that Smyd1 may play a critical role in cardiomyocyte differentiation and cardiac morphogenesis and that it also may have a function in skeletal muscle development
