Description
ER Membrane Protein Complex Subunit 1 (EMC1) is a single-pass type I membrane protein of unknown function. The primary structure of EMC1 contains four conserved domains. This includes a signal peptide from position 1 to 22, a COG1520 WD40 like domain, a leucine zipper domain, a transmembrane domain. and a DUF1620 domain (domain of unknown function) thought to be the method of such interaction. EMC1 interacts with these types of proteins, specifically the centromeric protein CENPH, the BAX Inhibitor TMBI4, the ADP ribosylation factor ARF6, the kinase TNIK, and the transcriptional repressor T22D1
