Stem Cell Growth Factor alpha (SCGF-alpha)is a newly discovered hematopoietic growth factor that exerts its activity at the early stages of hematopoiesis. Human SCGF-alpha is a non-glycosylated 33.9kD species-specific cytokine that can support growth of primitive hematopoietic cells, and in combination of EPO or GM-CSF, it promotes proliferation of erythroid and myeloid progenitors, respectively
