Human beta-defensin-2 (BD-2) is an antimicrobial peptide which belongs to the distinct family of beta-defensins. Recent studies have shown that the beta-defensins are present in the human airways and may be relevant to the pathogenesis of cystic fibrosis lung disease. Human BD-2 is a 4.3 kDa protein containing 43 amino acid residues
