The PDYN protein, or prodynorphin, regulates Leu-enkephalins, mimicking opiate drug effects and impacting pain perception and stress responses. Dynorphin peptides, like Dynorphin A(1-13), uniquely regulate the kappa opioid receptor, with A(1-13) being exceptionally potent—700 times stronger than Leu-enkephalin—displaying typical opioid activity.
