Mouse Alpha 2 Macroglobulin Purified has been purified from mouse serum. This is a frozen liquid buffered in 0.01 M sodium chloride, 0.15 M sodium phosphate, pH7.2 with 0.1% sodium azide, with a concentration of greater than or equal to 0.1mg/ml and a purity of greater than 95% as determined by SDS-PAGE analysis.
This product may be useful for Immunoassay and Immunology applications. Alpha-2 Macroglobulin (A2M) is a protein produced mainly in the liver that circulates in the blood. A2M performs multiple functions, including acting as an antiprotease to inactivate many different proteinases. A2M aslo inhibits fibrinolysis by inhibiting plasmin and kallikrein, and inhibits coagulation by inhibiting thrombin. A2M binds to various growth factors and cytokines and, as such, may act as a carrier protein as well
