Description
Bovine Ribonuclease A Purified Aggregate Free Lyophilized has been prepared as a highly purified, lyophilized preparation which may contain aggregates as a result of lyophilization but which exhibits same specific activity as the purified solution format. This is a lyophilized powder with a concentration of 3,000Units/mg protein.
This product catalyzes cleavage of the phosphodiester bond between the 5'-ribose of a nucleotide and the phosphate group attached to the 3'-ribose of an adjacent pyrimidine nucleotide forming a 2',3'-cyclic phosphate which may then be hydrolyzed to the corresponding 3'-nucleoside phosphate. Ribonuclease is inhibited by heavy metal ions and it is competitively inhibited by DNA. This product can be used without treatment in some applications. To heat-treat use 10 mM acetate pH5.0 with or without 15 mM CaCl2 for 15 minutes at 100 degree C or longer at 80 degree C. The product may precipitate if heated at neutral pH
