Description
PRDM4 (PR/SET Domain 4) is a transcription factor of the PR-domain protein family. It contains a PRdomain and multiple zinc finger motifs. Transcription factors of the PR-domain family are known to be involved in cell differentiation and tumorigenesis. PRDM4 recruits the chromatin modifier PRMT5, an arginine methyltransferase that catalyzes symmetric dimethylation of histone H4 arginine 3 (H4R3me2s) to exerts histone methyltransferase activity. An elevated expression level of this gene has been observed in PC12 cells treated with nerve growth factor, beta polypeptide (NGF). Diseases associated with PRDM4 include Pseudo-Von Willebrand Disease and Porokeratosis
