Strict specificity for N-acetyl arylalkylamines, including N-acetyl-2-phenylethylamine, N-acetyl-3-phenylpropylamine, N-acetyldopamine, N-acetyl-serotonin and melatonin. It also accepts arylalkyl acetates but not acetanilide derivatives, which are common substrates of EC 3.5.1.13, aryl acylamidase
