Description

VAP-1, also known as membrane primary amine oxidase isoform 1, a copper amine oxidase with a topaquinone cofactor. It is a cell adhesion protein that participates in lymphocyte extravasation and recirculation by mediating the binding of lymphocytes to peripheral lymph node vascular endothelial cells in an L-selectin-independent fashion. This protein plays a role in adipogenesis. It catalyzes the oxidative deamination of small primary amines such as methylamine, benzylamine, and aminoacetone in a reaction that produces an aldehyde, ammonia, and H2O2. Recombinant human VAP-1, fused to His-tag at C-terminus, was expressed in insect cell and purified by using conventional chromatography techniques
