Recombinant Interleukin 17a Protein

Description

Product Characteristics: Protein. The extracellular domain of human IL-17A (aa 20-155) is fused to the N-terminus of the Fc region of mutant human IgG1. Source: HEK 293 cells. Endotoxin content: <5EU/mg purified protein (LAL test, Lonza). Lyophilized from 0.2µm-filtered solution in PBS. Purity: >98 % (SDS-PAGE). Interleukin-17A (IL-17A) exhibits multiple biological activities on a variety of cells including the induction of IL-6 and IL-8 production in fibroblsts, the enhancement of surface expression of ICAM-1 in fibroblast, activation of NF-kappaB and costimulation of T cell proliferation. Induces stromal cells to produce proinflammatory and hematopoietic cytokines.

Target Information: The protein encoded by this gene is a proinflammatory cytokine produced by activated T cells. This cytokine regulates the activities of NF-kappaB and mitogen-activated protein kinases. This cytokine can stimulate the expression of IL6 and cyclooxygenase-2 (PTGS2/COX-2), as well as enhance the production of nitric oxide (NO). High levels of this cytokine are associated with several chronic inflammatory diseases including rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis and multiple sclerosis. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
