Vascular endothelial growth factor D (VEGF-D) is a potent angiogenic factor that is a member of the VEGF family1 that activates VEGF receptor-2.2 VEGF-D is also lymphangiogenic, and promotes metastatic spread of tumor cells via lymphatic vessels.3 It may be useful in the treatment of breast cancer as a decision-making biomarker for aggressive treatment after operation.4
