Description
Introduction: Haptoglobin or HP is encoded by the HP gene in humans. Haptoglobin binds free hemoglobin (which is released from erythrocytes) in the blood plasma, therefore inhibits the Hb oxidative activity. The complex that contains Haptoglobin and hemoglobin will then be eliminated mostly through the spleen.
Description: Haptoglobin produced in Sf9 Baculovirus cells is a single, glycosylated polypeptide chain (19-347 a.a.) and fused to a 6 aa His Tag at C-terminus containing a total of 338 amino acids and having a molecular mass of 37.7kDa. Haptoglobin shows multiple bands between 40-57kDa on SDS-PAGE, reducing conditions and purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques
