Description
The tropomyosin family consists of a number of highly conserved, widely distributed 35-45 kDa actin-binding proteins that are involved in the contractile system of striated and smooth muscles and the cytoskeleton of non-muscle cells. In smooth muscle and non-muscle cells, alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding a range of isoforms have been described. Recombinant tropomyosin-1 comprises a 284 amino acid fragment corresponding to the mature full length variant 3 protein and is expressed in E Coli with an amino-terminal hexahistidine tag.
