Description
Zika virus was first discovered in Ughanda in 1947 in monkeys infected by the virus through bites from of infected Aedes species mosquitos. Zika virus has become a highly researched disease due to increase in incidences from 2007 to 2016, when the virus spread eastward, across the Pacific Ocean to the Americas. In 2015–16 Zika virus epidemic reached pandemic levels. The Zika envelope protein composes the majority of the virion surface and it is involved with replication, such as host cell binding and membrane fusion
