Description

CD30, also known as TNFRSF8, is a member of the tumor necrosis factor receptor family. Its interaction with ligands TNFSF8/CD30L may play a role in the regulation of cellular growth and transformation of activated lymphoblasts. It also regulates gene expression through activation of NF-kappa-B. CD30 is expressed by activated, but not by resting, T and B cells. CD30 is associated with anaplastic large cell lymphoma, expressed in embryonal carcinoma but not in seminoma and is thus a useful marker in distinguishing between these germ cell tumors. It also expressed on classical Hodgkin Lymphoma Reed-Sternberg cells
