Description
Transforming Growth Factor-alpha (TGF-alpha) is a polypeptide growth factor which stimulates the proliferation of a wide range of epidermal and epithelial cells. TGF-alpha has been shown to play a role in the autocrine growth of certain transformed cells. Human TGF-alpha is a 5.5kD protein containing 50aa residues. The sequence shares approximately 40% sequence homology with EGF, including 6 conserved cysteine residues, which form 3 intramolecular disulfide bonds
