Description
Gamma-Glutamyl Transpeptidase is primarily a liver enzyme involved in the transfer of amino acids across the cellular membrane and in glutathione metabolism. GGT is found on the surface of all cells, with particularly high concentrations in the liver, bile ducts, and kidney. Elevated GGT is a diagnostic marker for types of liver damage and other conditions related to alcohol abuse. It is used clinically to differentiate between liver or bile duct disorders and bone disease
