BDNF belongs to NGF family. Monomers and homodimers bind to NTRK2/TRKB. The propeptide is N‐glycosylated and glycosulfated. The pro‐BDNF was converted into mature BDNF by plasmin. BDNF promotes the survival of neuronal populations that are all located either in the central nervous system or directly connected to it.
