Vascular endothelial growth factor D (VEGF-D) is a potent angiogenic factor that is a member of the VEGF family that activates VEGF receptor-2. VEGF-D is also lymphangiogenic, and promotes metastatic spread of tumor cells via lymphatic vessels.
