GALNT9 ELISA kits are immunoassay tools for the measurement of the protein polypeptide N-acetylgalactosaminyltransferase 9, which is encoded by the GALNT9 gene in humans. Functionally, this protein is known to catalyze the initial reaction in O-linked oligosaccharide biosynthesis, the transfer of an N-acetyl-D-galactosamine residue to a serine or threonine residue on the protein receptor. The canonical protein structure is reported to have an amino acid length of 603 residues, a mass of 68.4 kDa, and is a member of the Glycosyltransferase 2 protein family. It is known to be localized in the golgi and is notably expressed in the brain. As many as 2 protein isoforms have been reported. The protein has been noted to be post-translationally glycosylated. Other alias names for this target include GALNACT9, GalNAc transferase 9, UDP-GalNAc: polypeptide N-acetylgalactosaminyltransferase 9, UDP-N-acetyl-alpha-D-galactosamine:polypeptide N-acetylgalactosaminyltransferase 9 (GalNAc-T9), and GALNAC-T9.
