ABCB2 is an alias of the human TAP1 gene, which encodes the protein, transporter 1, ATP binding cassette subfamily B member. Notably, ABCB2 is known to play a role in adaptive immune responses and protein transport, among other functions. The TAP1 protein is described to be 748 amino acid residues in length and 81 kilodaltons in mass. It is localized to the ER of the cell. In terms of tissue specificity, it is found to be highly expressed in professional APCs monocytes and dendritic cells as well as in lymphocyte subsets T cells, B cells and NK cells. Other names for this target antigen include ABC17 and APT1.
