ALOX12B ELISA kits are immunoassay tools for the measurement of the protein arachidonate 12-lipoxygenase, 12R type, which is encoded by the ALOX12B gene in humans. Functionally, this protein is known to catalyze the regio and stereo-specific incorporation of a single molecule of dioxygen into free and esterified polyunsaturated fatty acids generating lipid hydroperoxides that can be further reduced to the corresponding hydroxy species. The canonical protein structure is reported to have an amino acid length of 701 residues, a mass of 80.4 kDa, and is a member of the Lipoxygenase protein family. It is known to be localized in the cytoplasm and is reported to be expressed in B-cells, hair follicles, foreskin keratinocytes and adult skin. The ALOX12B gene has been associated with the disease, Ichthyosis. Other alias names for this target include ARCI2, 12R-lipoxygenase, epidermis-type lipoxygenase 12, and 12R-LOX.
