Topoisomerase I ELISA kits are assays designed to detect type 1 topoisomerase enzymes. Type I topoisomerases cleave only one strand of DNA to unwind the double helix. They play a vital role during transcription, and for DNA replication, recombination and repair. There are mainly two types of topoisomerase I – type IA and type IB. Topoisomerase IA includes bacterial and archaeal topoisomerase I, and topoisomerase III, while IB forms eukaryotic topoisomerase I. Type IA can only uncoil negatively supercoiled DNA while IB can introduce positive supercoils. Visit the supplier page for more information about detection target, range and reactivity.
