ALKBH5 ELISA kits are immunoassay tools for the measurement of the protein alkB homolog 5, RNA demethylase, which is encoded by the ALKBH5 gene in humans. Functionally, this protein is a reported dioxygenase that demethylates RNA by oxidative demethylation: specifically demethylates N(6)-methyladenosine (m6A) RNA, the most prevalent internal modification of messenger RNA (mRNA) in higher eukaryotes. The canonical protein structure is reported to have an amino acid length of 394 residues, a mass of 44.3 kDa, and is a member of the AlkB protein family. It is known to be localized in the nucleus and is found to be widely expressed, with highest expression in the lung, followed by testis, pancreas, spleen and ovary. As many as 3 protein isoforms have been reported. Other alias names for this target include OFOXD, OFOXD1, RNA demethylase ALKBH5, AlkB family member 5, RNA demethylase, and ABH5.
