The canonical protein structure is reported to have an amino acid length of 303 residues, a mass of 33.7 kDa, and is a member of the RBR protein family. It is known to be localized in the mitochondria and cytoplasm and is widely expressed across many tissues, with lowest levels in the brain and thymus, and highest levels detectable in heart, ovary and testis. As many as 2 protein isoforms have been reported. The protein has been noted to be post-translationally ubiquitinated.
