Functionally, this protein is known to be involved in the morphogenesis of anatomical structure and bone development. The canonical protein structure is reported to have an amino acid length of 465 residues, a mass of 52.3 kDa, and is a member of the Dwarfin/SMAD protein family. It is known to be localized in the nucleus and cytoplasm and is ubiquitously expressed across many tissue types. As many as 2 protein isoforms have been reported. The protein has been noted to be post-translationally ubiquitinated and phosphorylated. Other alias names for this target include BSP1, JV4-1, JV41, MADH1, MADR1, and BSP-1.
