The canonical protein structure is reported to have an amino acid length of 425 residues, a mass of 47.4 kDa, and is a member of the Class-I pyridoxal-phosphate-dependent aminotransferase protein family. It is known to be localized in the mitochondria and is reported be highly expressed in the liver. As many as 2 protein isoforms have been reported.
