CRX ELISA kits are immunoassay tools for the measurement of the protein cone-rod homeobox, which is encoded by the CRX gene in humans. Functionally, this protein is reported to be a transcription factor that binds and transactivates the sequence 5'-TAATC[CA]-3' which is found upstream of several photoreceptor-specific genes, including the opsin genes. The canonical protein structure is reported to have an amino acid length of 299 residues, a mass of 32.3 kDa, and is a member of the Paired homeobox protein family. It is known to be localized in the nucleus. The CRX gene has been associated with the disease, Leber congenital amaurosis. Other alias names for this target include CRD, LCA7, OTX3, cone-rod homeobox protein, orthodenticle homeobox 3, and CORD2.
