The following Fibulin 5 ELISA kits are useful research tools for the measurement of fibulin 5 in biological samples. In humans this protein is encoded by the FBLN5 gene. This protein is known to be important for elastic fiber formation, is involved in the assembly of continuous elastin (ELN) polymer and promotes the interaction of microfibrils and ELN. The canonical protein structure is reported to have an amino acid length of 448 residues, a mass of 50.2 kDa, and is a member of the Fibulin protein family. Its subcellular location is known to be in the extracellular matrix and is secreted. In addition, it is reported to be expressed in skin fibroblasts(PubMed:17035250). In certain instances, it is also post-translationally N-glycosylated. The gene encoding this protein has been associated with the disease, Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease. This protein may also be known as ARCL1A, ARMD3, CMT1H, DANCE, EVEC, FIBL-5, HNARMD, and ADCL2.
The detection range for different Fibulin 5 ELISA kits can vary, with some assays measuring target concentrations as low as 15.6 pg/mL and as high as 200 ng/mL.
