Functionally, this protein is known to be a transcriptional repressor which forms a negative regulatory component of the circadian clock and acts independently of the circadian transcriptional repressors: CRY1, CRY2 and BHLHE41. The canonical protein structure is reported to have an amino acid sequence of 385 residues and a mass of 41.4 kDa. It is known to be localized in the nucleus. As many as 2 protein isoforms have been reported.
