GIF ELISA kits are assays designed to detect the 60 kDa glycoprotein, gastric intrinsic factor (GIF), also known as intrinsic factor (IF). It is produced by mammalian tissues derived from the foregut, such as parietal and chief cells. Encoded by the GIF gene in humans, it binds and transports vitamin B12 for reabsorption in the ileum. Patients with pernicious anemia produce autoantibodies against GIF, causing malabsorption of B12. Visit the supplier page for more information about detection range and reactivity.
