Functionally, this protein is known to be a transcription factor required to direct islet cell differentiation during endocrine pancreas development. The canonical protein structure is reported to have an amino acid length of 928 residues, a mass of 102.5 kDa, and is a member of the RFX protein family. It is known to be localized in the nucleus and is notably expressed in pancreas. The RFX6 gene has been associated with the disease, Mitchell-Riley syndrome. Other alias names for this target include DNA-binding protein RFX6 and regulatory factor X domain-containing protein 1.
