THEM5 ELISA kits are immunoassay tools for the measurement of the protein thioesterase superfamily member 5, which is encoded by the THEM5 gene in humans. Functionally, this protein is known to have acyl-CoA thioesterase activity towards long-chain (C16 and C18) fatty acyl-CoA substrates, with a preference for linoleoyl-CoA and other unsaturated long-chain fatty acid-CoA esters. The canonical protein structure is reported to have an amino acid length of 247 residues, a mass of 27.7 kDa, and is a member of the THEM4/THEM5 thioesterase protein family. It is known to be localized in the mitochondria. Other alias names for this target include acyl-CoA thioesterase THEM5, acyl-coenzyme A thioesterase 15, and acyl-coenzyme A thioesterase THEM5.
